{"id":1739,"date":"2014-02-12T15:58:14","date_gmt":"2014-02-12T20:58:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harbirzinc.com\/sandradawes\/?p=1739"},"modified":"2014-02-12T15:58:14","modified_gmt":"2014-02-12T20:58:14","slug":"are-your-beliefs-serving-you","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harbirzinc.com\/sandradawes\/2014\/02\/12\/are-your-beliefs-serving-you\/","title":{"rendered":"Are your beliefs serving you?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Beliefs are interesting things.\u00a0 We often treat our beliefs as if they are fact.\u00a0 We don\u2019t question them, or their origins, even when <a href=\"https:\/\/harbirzinc.com\/sandradawes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/beliefs-wordle.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-1740\" alt=\"beliefs-wordle\" src=\"https:\/\/harbirzinc.com\/sandradawes\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/02\/beliefs-wordle-300x130.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"130\" \/><\/a>there\u2019s something inside of us that doesn\u2019t feel in total alignment with them.\u00a0 Our beliefs come from many sources: family, religion, ethnicity, education and others.\u00a0 When our beliefs are tied to longstanding family traditions or religion, it can be a challenge to question them.\u00a0 If we no longer prescribe to the beliefs that we were raised with, it can be perceived as a denial of our heritage or that we\u2019re turning our back on our religion or our family.<\/p>\n<p>Accepting the beliefs of others without questioning them, however, leaves us in an interesting position.\u00a0 We follow the beliefs of others without truly understanding why.\u00a0 We end up doing things the way they\u2019ve always been done, resistant to change that may provide us with a more efficient or effective way of doing things.\u00a0 If we\u2019re not careful, we end up closed-minded and closed off from opportunities for continuous growth and development as individuals.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><i>\u201cAll belief that does not make us more happy, more free, more loving, more active, more calm, is, I fear a mistaken and superstitious belief.\u201d ~ John K.
