I had to pause and ask myself what I
really hoped to accomplish. At the end of the day, I wasn’t going to create the
reality I wanted, so there were two
choices: 1) continue to raise my blood pressure, or 2) change the way I chose
to react to it.

The good news is that I chose option #2 🙂 It took me a long time to get to the point
where I sometimes remember that I’m in control of my emotions 😉 All joking
aside, once you get to a point where you’re not always giving control of your
emotions to someone or something, life starts to flow a lot easier. The month
just started and I’m already getting good news and new opportunities coming to
me.

It’s amazing what letting go can do for you! When you’ve
been in a state of resistance for a long time, it can starts to feel natural,
but it isn’t. It can be easy to get stuck in a pattern of negativity where you
find yourself always focusing on the bad stuff. When we are in this space,
there is little if any room for gratitude. We’ve heard it said enough times
that what we focus on expands. So if you want your circumstances to change,
then you’re going to have to be willing to do something about it.

When you find yourself in a negative headspace, I think it’s
important to take the time to figure out what’s really bothering you. That can
be a process in and of itself, so in the meantime, ask “what is the good I can find in this?” It may be as simple
as not putting yourself the position that has you feeling the way you are at
the moment. It might be something that requires changing habits and doing
things in a different way. Whatever the answer is in that moment, receive it
and do something about it.

If there’s one thing that I’ve learned, it’s that doing
things in a different way takes conscious thought and commitment. Whether that
change is about the way you think, the way you speak to yourself and others or
something else; it can be easy to go back to old ways of doing things when
things get difficult. It takes awareness, time and patience to make effective
change that sticks.

When you find yourself slipping back into bad habits,
instead of beating yourself up about it, be proud of the fact that you’ve grown
enough to notice what’s happening. There was a time when you were doing those
things because that’s all you knew. Now you know more, so you have the capacity
to do more. Judgement has no place when we’re working on ourselves to become
more aware and more conscious of our choices. It doesn’t do anything
productive, so it’s a waste of time and energy.

Check in on yourself when you’re feeling off. Find a better
feeling thought and take it from there. It can be that easy if we release the
need to control everything; accept what we can’t change and do something about
the things we can. When we focus on the things that are within our power, such
as our thoughts and our actions, things start to shift in a beautiful way! 🙂

The other day I found myself getting worked up over things that were completely out of my control.
