At first, I thought that I had mixed up my contact lenses (left eye is weaker than the right), but after coming home and switching them to see if it would help, I realized that mixed up contact lenses weren’t the issue. I even tried my glasses hoping that would be better, but to no luck.

I booked an appointment with my optician and learned that the double vision wasn’t due to a change in prescription. I’ve been referred to an opthamologist, and was told that it appears my left eye muscle is weak, and that’s what was causing the double vision.

Of course, thanks to Covid, I have to wait an unspecified amount of time before I wil actually have an appointment. Thankfully with all the research I’ve been doing for my writing, I thought it would be a good idea to see if I could find any exercises to strengthen my eye (thanks article on lock jaw versus jaw lock!).

After doing some reading I realized that my increased screen time due to the writing and research may be causing my vision issues. I decided to spend my screen time for work only which was easy to do since I’ve given up on social media lately 😉

My vision is almost 100% back to normal. The trick is that I don’t know if it was the brief period of using an eye patch, doing eye exercises, or decreasing my screen time that did the trick. I’m going to assume that it was a combination of all of the above.

I’ve learned that I should never take my vision for granted. The issues with my eyesight served as a reminder that when you need rest and you don’t make time for it, the body will do things to make you rest. I’ve also been reminded that it’s when you think you don’t have time to take a rest that you probably need it the most.

I know that I have talked about self-care and how important it is to take care of yourself before you take care of others, but if you’ve ever heard that saying about the shoemaker that has no shoes, you know it can be easier to give advice to others instead of applying it to your […]

[8
502,2150,2149,700,2152,941,537,1917,624,2151
post-4307","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-thoughtoftheday","tag-embrace-your-destiny","tag-overwork","tag-relax","tag-relaxation","tag-research","tag-rest","tag-sandra-dawes","tag-sandra-dawes-chatha","tag-self-care","tag-vision-problems
["GET
