{"id":767,"date":"2012-04-22T16:11:24","date_gmt":"2012-04-22T20:11:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harbirzinc.com\/sandradawes\/?p=767"},"modified":"2012-04-22T16:11:24","modified_gmt":"2012-04-22T20:11:24","slug":"recognizing-the-problem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harbirzinc.com\/sandradawes\/2012\/04\/22\/recognizing-the-problem\/","title":{"rendered":"Recognizing the problem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">I\u2019m doing my second round of <em>A Course in Miracles<\/em> and the lesson that really struck a chord with me lately was: \u201cLet me recognize the problem so it can be solved.\u201d\u00a0 I immediately recognized the truth of this request.\u00a0 So often we think we know what the problem is, when clearly we don\u2019t because our solutions don\u2019t work!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">So what is the problem?\u00a0 What is at the core of the issues we experience in our lives?\u00a0 <em>A Course in Miracles<\/em> tells us that the root of our distress is the belief in separation.\u00a0 The idea that we are alone, separate from everyone and everything in the universe, including God.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">The belief that we are alone in this world is a harmful one.\u00a0 It allows us to foster an \u201cus versus them\u201d mentality.\u00a0 This thinking also fosters a belief in scarcity and permits us to be justified in acting in our own interests regardless of how those actions affect others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">I\u2019ve heard it said that we act in two ways: out of love or out of fear.\u00a0 When we act out of love, we are able to experience peace and contentment.\u00a0 When we act out of fear, we live stressful, unsatisfactory lives.\u00a0 Instead of being able to feel love and compassion for our neighbors, we play victim, experience jealousy and wage wars.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri;\">I am finally at a point where I realize how difficult we make our lives when we believe in separateness.\u00a0 It is easy to become depressed, hopeless or just plain pessimistic about our lives.\u00a0 Imagine how different the world would be if we all believed that we were connected, that every living thing is connected!\u00a0 Picture the possibilities!\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">I imagine a world where we all feel connected to one another to be one where we emphasize co-operation rather than competition.\u00a0 We would look out for one another, even when we\u2019re strangers because it\u2019s simply what we are called to do.\u00a0 Pollution and animal cruelty wouldn\u2019t need to be causes that we need to spend our time and money on because we recognize the importance of taking care of our home and all of its residents.\u00a0 Most importantly, we couldn\u2019t even imagine going to war with one another because we would see it as going to battle with ourselves \u2013 a completely ludicrous idea!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">Even if we struggle with the concept of being connected to the cast universe, can we really afford not to believe that we are connected to God?\u00a0 If we believe that God created us, then how can we feel separate from our creator?\u00a0 Do we not feel connected to our parents?\u00a0 What about the rest of our family?\u00a0 If we acknowledge that God created the universe, how can all that it includes not be connected?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Calibri; font-size: small;\">What really blows my mind about this lesson in <em>A Course in Miracles<\/em> is that when we recognize the problem (our belief in separateness); we realize it has already been solved!\u00a0 If our belief in separateness is false, then the problems we perceive don\u2019t really exist, do they?\u00a0 They are our own creations; we are doing this to ourselves!\u00a0 When we are able to realize that we are all one, we become empowered.\u00a0 We are one with God and with God all things are possible.\u00a0 So what are you waiting for?
